Times are crazy! We can all agree on that. Living through this pandemic is not something I expected or would have chosen to do, but God has taught me a few things through this experience.
Community is vital – If you know me, you know that I’m an introvert. I could go days at home alone and be perfectly fine. However, this pandemic has tested even me! I miss my church family, my small group, and my friends.
Galatians 6:2 says “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
It’s important for us to have fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ! It’s important for us to check in and pray for each other! I encourage you (and myself) to reach out to a friend by text or phone to catch up this week and get some of that community we need to thrive!
We crave control – This has been a difficult one for me! During this pandemic I have dealt with a job change, uncertainty about when I’ll be able to do music again, canceled gigs, and lots of canceled plans. I’m sure everyone can relate to that in some way! There have been times when I was anxious about the future, not knowing what’s going to happen. And I just have to step back and trust that God is going to stay in control.
Psalm 27:1 says “The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?”
When I’m worried about work, getting sick, or the future I have to remind myself of that truth. I have nothing to fear, my God is in control! He has my back!
Every moment is precious – Dealing with this virus has brought anxiety for many people! It reinforces the idea that life could change or even be gone in just a second! It’s important not to take our time on earth with loved ones for granted.
James 4:14 says “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”
This is such a great reminder! We should use every moment to glorify God and show love to those around us.
These are just a few things that God has taught me during COVID-19. What are some things that God has shown you? I’d love to read your comments. I hope this has been encouraging to you and given you some hope!
